Aggie Wellbeing Assessment - Sleep | The Wellbeing Improvement Survey for Higher Education Settings (WISHES) has been administered to the Texas A&M University student body in College Station since the 2021-2022 academic year. Texas A&M University surveyed the student body to better understand students’ overall well-being, intermediate outcomes, educational outcomes, and student experiences that influence wellbeing. The survey covered topics such as overall health, psychological distress, suffering or struggling, flourishing, belonging at Texas A&M, resilience, binge drinking, health and academic risks, engagement in extracurricular activities, having a friend, mentor, or professor who makes them excited about learning and cares for them. The WISHES survey is administered in October, November, February, March, and April of each academic year. In the 2021-2022 academic year, the survey was also administered in September to students living on campus. However, the March and April surveys scheduled for spring 2023 were not administered. Since the 2021-2022 academic year, 20,360 students responded to at least one question, yielding an overall response rate of 12%. Agricultural and Life Sciences Awareness & Satisfaction Assessment | Staff in the Career Center specifically working in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (AGLS) wanted to know students’ level of awareness of their services and level of satisfaction with those services. They wanted to understand students’ perceptions of their office and to address any gaps or perceived gaps in their services. Assessment Basic Courses Training Series Assessment - 2022-2023 | One goal for Student Affairs Strategic Planning was to educate and develop staff within the Division of Student Affairs about assessment. To accomplish this goal, the department coordinated an Assessment Basic Courses (ABCs) training series throughout the 2022-2023 academic year. Five workshops were presented for the 2022-2023 academic year over the following topics: Assessment Planning Student Affairs Strategic Planning wanted to assess the participants’ learning at each workshop to understand if the intended learning outcomes for each one was met. ATC Howdy Camp 2020 Counselor/Teamer/CoChair & Camper Surveys | Howdy Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC) is an extended optional orientation camp held immediately prior to the spring semester for students transferring to or first time attending Texas A&M University in the spring semester. This year Howdy Camp was held January 3-5, 2020. This report summarizes the results of surveys sent to co-chairs, counselors and teamers who work at the camp, as well as the participants (campers) who attend. ATC T Camp 2020 | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experience of students who participated in T Camp. T Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC), is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students who previously attended another institution and are transferring to Texas A&M University. Due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings, this fall two sessions of T Camp were held virtually; session one was held August 3 through August 5, and session two was held August 7 through August 9. One survey was sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers a few weeks into the semester, and T Camp participants (campers) were sent a different survey to measure their camp experience. ATC T-Camp 2023 Counselor/Teamer/Cochair & Camper Surveys | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experiences of students who participated in T-Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC). A few weeks into the semester, survey evaluations were sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers, and another survey was sent to participants (campers) to assess their camp experiences. Block Party and Volunteer Opportunity Fair - August 2020 | Each year during Howdy Week, the Department of Student Activities hosts Block Party, a large-scale program for students to learn about getting involved in student organizations. This year the department combined Block Party with the Volunteer Opportunity Fair, which helps students learn more about volunteering with local agencies. The virtual event was held on August 13, 2020, and included live interviews, videos, music, giveaways, question and answer sessions, and local agencies. Additionally, local food vendors collaborated with Student Activities to offer coupons for free or discounted food items. The Department of Student Activities wanted to understand students’ experiences during the event. Business Relationship Management Model Survey 2021 | Division of Student Affairs (DSA) department directors and staff who are members of the DSA Department of Information Technology (DoIT) Liaison committee during the 2020-2021 academic year were surveyed for feedback regarding their relationship with DoIT services, as defined by four core discipline components of the Business Relationship Management (BRM) model. This is the first time Student Life Studies helped DoIT assess departmental feedback regarding progress towards an optimum relationship with each DSA departments using the BRM model. Client Focus Groups | One goal for Student Life Studies is to provide quality assessment services to facilitate client planning and decision-making. To measure this goal and associated outcomes, the department conducted focus groups with clients to understand the effectiveness and quality of the services offered. Student Life Studies conducts focus groups approximately every three years to learn about clients’ experiences working with the department. Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Needs and Awareness - 2022 | Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) wanted to understand the level of awareness faculty, staff, and students have of the department’s services as well as their knowledge of suicide prevention training and My Student Support Program (My SSP) @ TAMU. Additionally, the department wanted to learn what services students thought were beneficial and discover any reservations students had about going to CAPS. Counseling and Psychological Services Suicide Prevention Training - Jan 2021-Aug 2022 | Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides suicide awareness and prevention training workshops for students, faculty, and staff. CAPS wanted to know if participants were learning the information covered during the training and their comfort level in talking about suicide to others. Additionally, CAPS wanted to understand what participants thought about the training and how to improve it in the future.
