Student Experience Assessment | Student Assistance Services (SAS) is one of the units in Student Life where students are often referred to for a variety of reasons such as concerning behavior, student death, sexual violence, withdrawal from school, student welfare checks, and general consultation. 2023 DMS LEAD Evaluation | Multicultural Services and student leaders from the Asian President’s Council contacted Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research to assist in developing an assessment for the 2023 Leadership Education for Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) Development (LEAD) Conference. This year’s conference was held on April 15, 2023, and the theme of LEAD was Reflecting on our Past, Changing for our Future. The conference was open to students, staff, and faculty from Texas A&M University and from other educational institutions. Leadership Education for APIDA Development (LEAD) Conference Spring 2021 | Multicultural Services and student leaders from the Asian President’s Council contacted Student Life Studies to assist in developing an assessment for the 2021 Leadership Education for Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American (APIDA) Development (LEAD) Conference. This year’s conference was held virtually the evening of April 9 and the morning of April 10, 2021 and the theme of LEAD was "Stronger when Together, Together while Apart." The conference was open to students, staff and faculty from Texas A&M University and from other educational institutions. SBSLC 2020: Igniting the Dream: I the Flame, We the Fire | On January 16 -18, 2020, the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (SBSLC) held its 32nd annual conference at Texas A&M University. A series of surveys were developed to assess the student participants’ experience attending the conference overall, the organizations at the Career and Graduate School fair, 16 participants’ experience at the Charles E. Williams II Advanced Leadership Institute (ALI), and the 72 attending advisors. Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference SBSLC 2023: Next Stop: Reaching New Limits | On January 19-21, 2023, the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (SBSLC) held its 34th annual conference at Texas A&M University. A series of surveys were developed to assess the student and advisor participants’ experiences attending the conference overall, participants’ experience at the Charles E. Diversity Climate Survey Fall 2021 | The Texas A&M Memorial Student Center (MSC) provides leadership development opportunities for students through its 18 programming committees and resource areas. MSC Diversity leadership wanted to assess how MSC committee members and executive teams perceived the diversity initiatives instituted toward creating an inclusive student union. Student Life Studies has worked with the MSC since 2011 to assess the diversity and inclusion efforts and its effects on its membership. It is designed to bring cultural awareness to those attending as well as to serve as a platform for cultural organizations and individuals to share their home cultures with the Texas A&M community. This year, I-Week took place on March 28-April 1, 2022, and consisted of a variety of events including I-Exhibit, I-Story, I-Dinner, I-Show, I-Art, and I-Awards. Memorial Student Center (MSC) Spencer Leadership Conference Evaluation Spring 2021 | The MSC Spencer Leadership Conference focuses on leadership development through the exploration of three pillars: Self-Aware Leadership, Innovative Leadership, and Selfless Leadership. Approximately 27 student delegates participated in preconference programs, primarily virtual, and attended the conference in-person held in College Station in early March 2021. The conference includes programs and small group discussions featuring leaders in business, industry, education and public service. Delegates were surveyed to assess their experiences and learning during the conference as well as during preconference events. Memorial Student Center Student Diversity Focus Groups Fall 2020 | At the beginning of fall of 2020, the Memorial Student Center (MSC) Diversity contacted Student Life Studies (SLS) to help facilitate focus groups as outlined in their diversity plan that would enable them gain insight regarding the current climate with the MSC. Student Life Studies has worked with the MSC before in their assessment of diversity within the MSC, and this is the second time SLS assisted the MSC in conducting focus groups regarding MSC student perceptions surrounding diversity and inclusion.
