SERU Graduate Climate Heard Negative Views 2021 | The Student Experience in the Research University (SERU) is a consortium of research institutions in the Association of American Universities that administer a common survey to generate knowledge and help further the goals of higher education in general and at the member institutions specifically. Sex in the Dark Workshop 2019-2020 (Health Promotions ODSL) | Sex in the Dark is a workshop conducted by Health Promotion (HP) to increase the knowledge of students in regards to their sexual health. SGA - University President Search Feedback | The Student Government Association (SGA) wanted to gather feedback from the Texas A&M University student body and student organization leaders to understand what students would like to see in the next university president. The survey focused on the importance of the new president demonstrating Texas A&M University’s Core Values, top issues for a new president to address, and characteristics students would like to see in the new president. SLS Assessment Questionnaire Feedback - Fall 2020 | On August 1, 2020, Student Life Studies launched a new Assessment Questionnaire (AQ) form. The changes for updating the department’s intake form was based on frustrations clients expressed during the focus groups held in May 2019 on Student Life Studies’ services. The department wanted to gather feedback from clients who completed the new AQ form since it was launched to know if the changes improved clients’ experience completing this form. SLS Client Follow-Up Feedback - Fall 2020 | Starting in summer 2020, Student Life Studies staff members started scheduling meetings with clients several weeks after assessment projects were completed. The purpose of these follow-up meetings was to find out what information from the report stood out to clients, how clients might use or share the results, or if there was any additional analysis Student Life Studies could provide. The department wanted to gather feedback from clients to know if these short follow-up meetings are beneficial or if the department could do something to make them more helpful. Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference SBSLC 2023: Next Stop: Reaching New Limits | On January 19-21, 2023, the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference (SBSLC) held its 34th annual conference at Texas A&M University. A series of surveys were developed to assess the student and advisor participants’ experiences attending the conference overall, participants’ experience at the Charles E. Staff Assessment Needs and Training | To meet the needs of staff members, Student Life Studies conducts a survey every three years to understand division staff members’ experiences and needs related to assessment. STAND Up Overview and STAND Up Workshop Evaluations 2020-2021- Health Promotions | Health Promotions within the Offices of the Dean of Student Life (ODSL) offers workshops providing educational support for the STAND Up campaign on the Texas A&M University campus inviting Aggies to Step In and Stand Up against sexual harassment and sexual violence. In 2020-2021, two separate programs were offered: The STAND Up Overview, an hour-long, virtual presentation intended to provide general information about the impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence, and the STAND Up workshop, a three and one-half hour, in-person and virtual presentation designed to provide a more thorough understanding of impacts of trauma related to experiencing power-based personal violence. Surveys were distributed at the end of the Overviews and STAND Up workshops to measure participants’ learning and satisfaction. Student Assistance Services Student Experience - 2019-2020 | Student Assistance Services is one of the units in the Offices of the Dean of Student Life. According to its website (https://studentlife.tamu.edu/sas/), Student Assistance Services (SAS) “seeks to connect Texas A&M University students with the appropriate guidance, resources, and support to address a variety of personal and academic matters.” Students are often referred to Student Assistance Services for a variety of reasons such as concerning behavior, student death, sexual violence, withdrawal from school, student welfare checks, and general consultation.
