Student Senate Academic Advising Survey Fall 2021 | The Student Senate wanted to collect input from the Texas A&M University non first time in college sophomores, juniors and seniors regarding their experiences with academic advising while at Texas A&M University. The Student Senate in conjunction with University Advisors and Counselors (UAC) and the Office for Student Success developed survey questions and contacted Student Life Studies to assist in survey editing, distribution, analysis and report of the survey results. 2022 The Big Event Community & Participant Surveys | Two surveys were created to understand how students were impacted by participating in The Big Event (TBE), and how members of the Bryan/College Station community reacted to their experience with The Big Event during Spring 2022. The feedback collected was from both the community members who registered for a job and the student participants who registered. This report covers the responses from both groups. Graduate and Professional Student Government International Graduate Student Assessment 2022 | The Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) wanted to assess the experience of international graduate and professional students at Texas A&M to identify areas in which GPSG could help improve their student experience and quality of life at Texas A&M. More specifically, GPSG wanted to understand international graduate students’ experiences as they encounter processes unique to international students, like the I-20 processes, using the Terra Dotta system, and processes in applying and participating in Optional Practical Training (OPT). GPSG leadership contacted Student Life Studies (SLS) in the fall of 2021 to assist them in creating and distributing the survey to international graduate students attending Texas A&M University in spring 2022; this is the second time SLS has assisted GPSG with this assessment. Student Research Week - Spring 2023 | Student Research Week (SRW) is a four-day competition coordinated by the Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG). Students can share their research conducted at Texas A&M either through oral presentations or poster sessions. This year, Student Research Week was held March 20-24, 2023. The Graduate and Professional Student Government wanted to assess the experiences of the competitors, judges, and volunteers regarding their participation in Student Research Week 2023. ATC T-Camp 2023 Counselor/Teamer/Cochair & Camper Surveys | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experiences of students who participated in T-Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC). T-Camp is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students who are transferring to Texas A&M University. There was one session held from August 9th through August 11th. A few weeks into the semester, survey evaluations were sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers, and another survey was sent to participants (campers) to assess their camp experiences. SGA - University President Search Feedback | The Student Government Association (SGA) wanted to gather feedback from the Texas A&M University student body and student organization leaders to understand what students would like to see in the next university president. The survey focused on the importance of the new president demonstrating Texas A&M University’s Core Values, top issues for a new president to address, and characteristics students would like to see in the new president. SGA worked with campus partners in developing survey questions and worked with Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research to administer the survey. Client Focus Groups | One goal for Student Life Studies is to provide quality assessment services to facilitate client planning and decision-making. To measure this goal and associated outcomes, the department conducted focus groups with clients to understand the effectiveness and quality of the services offered. Student Life Studies conducts focus groups approximately every three years to learn about clients’ experiences working with the department. University Police Department Student and Citizen Survey | The Texas A&M University Police Department (UPD) is required to survey “citizens” as a part of national accreditation requirements with International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). UPD surveys the campus community on a regular basis to gather input from the community, identify and improve practices, and address attitudes that might contribute to tension and grievances. The process for gathering that information can be determined by the department.
