“The Squeal of Approval”
Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research would like to recognize great assessment in the Division of Student Affairs. Do you know someone who has done some innovative and useful assessment work? Submit their name for the Oinkstanding Assessment Recognition. Recipients will get a card and pig stress ball. They might even get a visit from Super Pig!
Where did the pig metaphor come from? In 2014, Keston Fulcher and his colleagues at James Madison University wrote “A Simple Model for Learning Improvement: Weigh Pig, Feed Pig, Weigh Pig” that advocates for using assessment results to make change before assessing again. If you don’t feed your pig between weighing it, would you expect any increase in weight? Assessment alone with not change something. They also wrote “Return of the Pig: Standards for Learning Improvement” to further integrate assessment into learning experiences.
Criteria: Must be a full-time DSA staff member/graduate assistant or a DSA Affiliate
