OCSS Good Neighbor Network Assessment 2024-2025 | Off Campus Student Services (OCSS), a unit in Student Life, established a network of local property managers known as the Good Neighbor Network (GNN). The goal of the Good Neighbor Network was to bring local property managers together with Off Campus Student Services staff to discuss student and community needs and to facilitate engagement opportunities for property managers who were part of the Good Neighbor Network to engage with students. Off Campus Student Services wanted to assess the effectiveness of the Good Neighbor Network in its first year and get feedback from property managers on how to improve the Good Neighbor Network experience in the future. Alcohol Education Workshop Evaluation 2024-2025 | Students who receive a sanction to attend the Alcohol Education Workshop (AEW) are required to meet with a Substance Misuse and Violence Prevention (SMVP) staff member prior to their workshop, attend the workshop, and then come back for a follow-up meeting with the SMVP staff member approximately two weeks after participating in the workshop. Substance Misuse and Violence Prevention wanted to assess whether the students attending AEW met the learning outcomes. Disability Resources Finals Test Takers - Spring 2025 | Disability Resources administered over 3,600 final exams during finals in the spring 2025 semester, which was May 1–6, 2025. Disability Resources staff members wanted to gather feedback from students who took a final at one of the three testing locations to find out how they can continue to improve the process and experience for students. Student Assistance Services - Student Experience 2024-2025 Assessment | Student Assistance Services (SAS) is a unit in Student Life where students are often referred to for reasons such as concerning behavior, sexual violence, withdrawal from school, student welfare checks, and general consultation. Student Assistance Services wanted to gather feedback from students who met with staff in their office. Student Organization Leader Learning Evaluation 2024-2025 | Residence Life staff wanted to assess the career-readiness competencies Residence Life Community Council general members and Residence Hall Association (RHA), Eco-Reps, National Residential Hall Honorary (NRHH), and Residence Hall Staff Council (RHSC) executive members learn from their experiences with these student organizations. Students active in these organizations were given a pre-assessment relating to the competencies early in the fall semester, then, to assess areas needing continued development, a mid-year evaluation followed. Finally progress in those competencies was again measured through an end-of-year evaluation. Student Leader Learning Outcomes 2024-2025 | Staff from Student Activities wanted to understand the student leaders’ experiences and how their learning through these experiences related to the Texas A&M University (TAMU) undergraduate learning outcomes and the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) career readiness competencies. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) assisted Student Activities staff in creating an assessment to capture these student leaders’ learning related to the TAMU undergraduate learning outcomes of critical thinking and communication of student leaders from multiple sponsored and affiliated Texas A&M University student organizations. Advisor Summit Spring 2025 | Student Organization Leadership and Development (SOLAD) is a unit in the Department of Student Activities. SOLAD held the fourth annual Advisor Summit on April 11th, 2025, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. The Summit is an optional training intended as a time for advisors to network with one another, share ideas, and receive training for their advising role(s). It is also a moment for the SOLAD team to appreciate all that advisors do. SOLAD staff will be using the results from this survey to better understand what advisors gained from attending the Advisor Summit and enhance the training for future years. Ethics and Decision Making Workshop Evaluation 2024-2025 | The Student Community Standards (SCS) wanted to assess the learning and overall experiences of students attending the Ethics and Decision Making (EDM) Workshop. The survey assessed whether students could identify and list influences on their values and decisions and understand strategies for making decisions. The survey also requested participants’ feedback about the effectiveness of the facilitators. MSC Programs: Student Conference on National Affairs 70 - Spring 2025 | Each spring, the MSC Student Conference on National Affairs (SCONA) hosts a conference to provide “programs for students across Texas, the nation, and the world to exchange ideas and discuss the role of the United States in the global community.” The theme for SCONA 70 was “World in Flames: Guiding America through a New Era of Conflict,” and it was held on February 13-15, 2025. SCONA 70 utilized speakers and team facilitators with first-hand experiences in the topics to guide delegates in the creation of a policy paper. Off Campus Student Services - Community Luncheon – April 2025 | Off Campus Student Services (OCSS) supports students living off campus in the Bryan/College Station area, including helping students understand leases and find housing. Off Campus Student Services hosted a community luncheon on April 24, 2025, to educate local citizens on events, neighborhood codes, and being good neighbors. Off Campus Student Services staff will use this information to inform future programs and student support. Howdy Camp 2025 | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experiences of students who participated in Howdy Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC). Howdy Camp is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students transferring to Texas A&M University and first-time in college students starting in the spring semester. There was one session held in early January 2025. A few weeks into the semester, one survey evaluation was sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers, and another survey was sent to participants (campers) to assess their camp experiences and whether the participant (camper) learning outcomes were met. Off Campus Student Services Leasing 101 Workshops 2024-2025 | Off Campus Student Services (OCSS) supports students living off campus in the Bryan/College Station area, including helping students understand leases and find housing. To assist students new to Off Campus housing, OCSS presents a virtual Leasing 101 Workshop. The purpose of this workshop is to help students navigate their way as Off Campus students conducting various actions as tenants in the community. The workshop also provides students with resources and useful tips on navigating the world of an Off Campus student residing within the community. This year, a version of Leasing 101 was also developed targeted at friends and family of students looking for Off Campus housing. Spencer Leadership Conference Evaluation Spring 2025 | The MSC Spencer Leadership Conference focuses on leadership development by exploring three pillars: Self-Aware Leadership, Innovative Leadership, and Selfless Service. Approximately 30 delegates and 10 directors participated in pre-conference programs and attended the conference, held February 28 through March 2, 2025. The conference included programs and small group discussions featuring leaders in business, industry, education, and public service. A series of surveys were developed to assess if the conference enhanced the student delegates’ and directors’ understanding of the three pillars and their overall experience at the conference. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) also developed a post-conference survey for directors to rate their abilities regarding certain career readiness criteria.
