Howdy Camp 2025 | The purpose of this assessment was to understand the experiences of students who participated in Howdy Camp, sponsored by Aggie Transition Camps (ATC). Howdy Camp is an extended (three-day) optional orientation camp for students transferring to Texas A&M University and first-time in college students starting in the spring semester. There was one session held in early January 2025. A few weeks into the semester, one survey evaluation was sent to co-chairs, counselors, and teamers, and another survey was sent to participants (campers) to assess their camp experiences and whether the participant (camper) learning outcomes were met. Off Campus Student Services Leasing 101 Workshops 2024-2025 | Off Campus Student Services (OCSS) supports students living off campus in the Bryan/College Station area, including helping students understand leases and find housing. To assist students new to Off Campus housing, OCSS presents a virtual Leasing 101 Workshop. The purpose of this workshop is to help students navigate their way as Off Campus students conducting various actions as tenants in the community. The workshop also provides students with resources and useful tips on navigating the world of an Off Campus student residing within the community. This year, a version of Leasing 101 was also developed targeted at friends and family of students looking for Off Campus housing. Spencer Leadership Conference Evaluation Spring 2025 | The MSC Spencer Leadership Conference focuses on leadership development by exploring three pillars: Self-Aware Leadership, Innovative Leadership, and Selfless Service. Approximately 30 delegates and 10 directors participated in pre-conference programs and attended the conference, held February 28 through March 2, 2025. The conference included programs and small group discussions featuring leaders in business, industry, education, and public service. A series of surveys were developed to assess if the conference enhanced the student delegates’ and directors’ understanding of the three pillars and their overall experience at the conference. Student Affairs Planning, Assessment & Research (SAPAR) also developed a post-conference survey for directors to rate their abilities regarding certain career readiness criteria. MSC Programs Student Leader Exit Interviews 2024-2025 | The MSC Programs staff wanted to assess the experiences of its MSC student leadership (MSC Council officers) through exit interviews. These student leaders were asked about the rewards and challenges of their leadership role, how they felt the experience prepared them for their future, and their ideas for MSC Programs to improve support for future leaders. Leadership roles included in the assessment were the MSC Council, including the MSC President, Executive Vice-Presidents (EVPs), MSC Vice-Presidents, and MSC Officers (chairs and resource directors). FLAC - Freshman Leadership Organizations 2024-2025 Student Experience | The Freshmen Leadership Advisory Council (FLAC) advised through the Department of Student Activities, wanted to understand more about the student participants’ experience as members of one of the 25 Freshman Leadership Organizations (FLOs). Specifically, FLAC aimed to learn what impacts participating in FLOs had on freshmen and upperclassmen organizational members, including opportunities for leadership, and service learning. FLAC also wanted to understand how effectively FLO general meetings were run, and whether FLO activities were freshmen-led and overall prioritize being freshmen-focused. Student Leadership Exchange Program - Spring 2025 | The Student Leadership Exchange Program (SLEP) was an international exchange between Texas A&M University – College Station and Texas A&M University – Qatar. The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs (OVPSA) wanted to gather information from the TAMU – College Station student leaders who traveled to Doha, Qatar over their spring break on March 7-14, 2025, to understand their experiences and what they learned through this exchange program. Additionally, the OVPSA wanted to find out how to improve this for the future. The Student Leadership Exchange Program had been facilitated for many years through the Department of Student Activities; however, it had not occurred since the Covid-19 pandemic. Rec Sports De-Stress Fest Spring 2025 | Recreational Sports (Rec Sports) partnered with various campus offices to host De-Stress Fest. This program was held on March 4, 2025, and the program was designed for participants to know the importance of self-care, participate in activities to lower stress, and learn about campus resources. Participants were assessed at the event after engaging in the activities to gauge what students learned about self-care. Off-Campus Student Services Party Smart | Off Campus Student Services (OCSS) supports students living off campus in the Bryan/College Station area, including helping students understand leases and find housing. The purpose of this event was to teach students how to safely host parties and have a safe and fun spring break. DSA Employee Communications Assessment | The Division of Student Affairs (DSA) Marketing & Communications (MarComm) supports departments and division committees in marketing efforts to several stakeholders, including division staff members and affiliate units who directly support the division. Marketing & Communications want to determine how DSA employees like to receive and consume internal communications, as well as the most effective ways to communicate with DSA employees. MarComm will use these results to improve how information is shared with division employees, including updates, resources, and announcements. SGA: Campus Accessibility - Spring 2025 | The Texas A&M University Student Senate is the representative voice of the student body. Functioning as the legislative branch of the Student Government Association, the Senate works to identify and advocate student opinion on issues affecting the Aggie Experience to faculty, administration, governmental bodies, and other student organizations. The Diversity and Inclusion Committee, under Student Senate, wanted to gather student feedback related to the accessibility on campus and how they could advocate for improvements. SGA: First-Generation Financial Insights - Spring 2025 | The Student Government Association (SGA) Legislative Relations advocates for Texas A&M students on a variety of concerns. The Legislative Relations committee wanted to learn about students’ sources of financial aid, any gaps in financial aid, and their awareness of financial resources. SGA wanted to specifically understand if first-generation students had any differences in these financial matters compared to non-first-generation students. Residence Life Housing Application Assessment | The Department of Residence Life manages approximately 11,300 bed spaces across 37 residence halls and apartment buildings on campus. The housing application for new applicants to live in on-campus housing for the following academic year opens in early fall and runs through late spring. The Department of Residence Life wanted to assess the September 2023 – May 2024 application process to get feedback on the overall process. This assessment focused on new housing applicants, including current students who did not live on campus and admitted students who would start enrollment in fall 2024. Student Veteran Needs Assessment | The Don & Ellie Knauss Veteran Resource and Support Center (VRSC) at Texas A&M University wanted to understand better the experiences of the military student population, especially challenges they may face in academics, finances, their overall wellbeing, and peer engagement, as well as students’ experiences with Vet Camp. Fish Camp Non-Participant Evaluation 2024-2025 | Fish Camp is an optional extended orientation camp that provides a transition from high school to college for approximately 6,000 incoming freshmen. Fish Camp has assessed different aspects of the program since 2000. Fish Camp wanted to assess incoming freshmen who did not attend Fish Camp to understand their first semester at Texas A&M University and learn what Fish Camp could do in their marketing and programming for more students to attend. Additionally, Fish Camp wanted to compare the experiences of students who attended Fish Camp with students who did not attend Fish Camp. NSFP Student Employee Learning 2024 | New Student & Family Programs (NSFP) created learning outcomes and then used rubric style electronic surveys to assess the learning of all their student employees as a result working within their department. Student employees in all roles were included; common learning outcomes were created during fall 2023 and five rubric style electronic assessments developed for front desk workers, Aggie Parent and Family Ambassadors (APFA), New Student Conferences en Español Student Coordinator, NSFP Orientation Team Leads (OTL), and Orientation Leaders and Assistants (OL/OA). The assessments were to be used by the students to self-report their learning and performance, as well as enable their supervisors to evaluate what they observed regarding each student employees learning and performance.
